Caring for your new tattoo is a simple but important. With proper care you will be pleased with your tattoo for many years to come!
Upon removal of the bandage, you will want to wash your tattoo, with warm water and actibacterial soap (soft soap, dial). The area may need to be washed a few times, to make sure it is clean, simply fingertips, soap, and water. Pat the area dry, avoid rubbing. For thefirst three days after the tattoo, apply a very thin amount of bacitracin, or A&D ointment onto the tattoo. Do this 2-3 times a day, in order to avoid the tattoo drying out.

Starting on the 4th day after the tattoo, discontinue use of bacitracin/A&D, and switch to an unscented, frangrance free lotion. Use the lotion as needed.

You may notice peeling and flaking of the skin, this is normal, keep the tattoo moisturized to help aid in skin regeneration. The area will also become itchy, avoid scratching, or picking at the tattoo, as this may harm the underlying ink.

While your tattoo is healing, generaly 2-3 weeks, you will want to avoid soaking the tattoo. Long showers, baths, pools, lakes, etc, are to be avoided during this time. Direct sunlight, including tanning is also not good for the tattoo, please avoid this as well. Once the tattoo is fully healed, use sunscreen as necessary.
